Alcaston Gallery presents a tribute celebrating the life and legacy of the late Tiger Yaltangki (1973-2024), in conjunction with the late artist’s family and Iwantja Arts – Let There Be Rock.
Tiger Yaltangki (1973-2024) was one of Australia’s most innovative contemporary artists, whose celebrated career has left an immense artistic legacy. His work possesses a potent energy, a fusion of references to his Anangu knowledge and electric passion for rock ‘n’ roll and pop culture. In Yaltangki’s creative universe, Anangu Mamu (spirit beings) intermingle with icons of music and screen, and often with Yaltangki himself. In flamboyant colour, and animated mark-making, Yaltangki created worlds populated by all that was important to him.
Let There Be Rock Alcaston Gallery was privileged to represent Tiger Yaltangki throughout his extraordinary career, as a remarkable artist, man of culture and beloved figure among our dedicated collectors worldwide.
Alcaston Gallery respectfully advises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples that the artist’s name is included with the permission of his family and Iwantja Arts.
Exhibition Launch: Thursday 4 September 5-7PM
