Somewhere is an exhibition by Sydney-based artist Todd Fuller. This exhibition was developed during his residency at the Glasshouse Regional Gallery in October 2018.
In this period Fuller reflected on his early memories to the area, holidaying with his family as a child. With the memories of the sea air and the sense of freedom it brings in his mind, Fuller went onto produce a body of work that would encapsulate this sense of nostalgia. This quest led to discovering the local story of Harry Thompson, the unofficial caretaker of Shelly Beach.
‘To see the ocean for the first time was born’ – the feature animation work in the From Somewhere exhibition. A narration through line and tone, a series of drawing and paintings, Fuller breathes life into the many tales and stories told about the local (now passed) larrikin, who much like Fuller found solace in the beautiful ocean air of Port Macquarie.
