Since setting roots down on Abercrombie Street in Chippendale in 2012, Galerie pompom has worked with more than 200 Australian and international artists in more than 160 exhibitions and projects to date. In a statement released on Monday, directors George Adams and Samantha Ferris have announced the closure of the gallery on 10 April, concluding with the gallery’s current exhibitions.

“While we look forward to spending more time with our families, we will remain fervent supporters of the art community. It’s been a fantastic ride – thanks for the good times,” wrote Adams and Ferris in the statement.

The heartfelt piece detailed the team members, organisations, and art fairs the gallery has worked with over the last decade: “Our primary objectives have always been to provide support to artists and to exhibit their work in the best possible way, to enable career progress. This extends to all arts workers who have been associated with us.”

The statement continues: “We thank our collectors and all who have visited and engaged with the gallery and sincerely hope that you will continue to frequent local galleries and acquire works by contemporary artists.”

Galerie pompom’s website will remain live allowing audiences to peruse archived exhibitions. The gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday and is currently showing The White Square by Danica Firulovic and Too Late to Leave by Anna Madeleine Raupach.
