ArtSpace At Realm was established by Maroondah City Council in 2015 within the library, learning and cultural facility of Realm in Ringwood. Since its inception, ArtSpace has delivered a curated program of performances, exhibitions, workshops and immersive visual arts experiences by leading multi-disciplinary artists to engage with community members and visitors to the municipality. A feature of the program has been solo commissions by Australian contemporary artists such as Ross Manning, Isobel Knowles and Van Sowerwine, Juan Ford, Kate Rohde, Ceri Hann and Lynda Roberts.
Also part of the ArtSpace precinct is Maroondah Federation Estate Gallery. Maroondah Federation Estate Gallery was established in 2001, within the community facility of Maroondah Federation Estate, to display the art collection and further enhance and promote the arts in the region. The Maroondah Federation Estate Gallery now hosts a broad variety of exhibitions with a focus on locally relevant content, artist groups, curated shows, and the Maroondah City Council Art Collection. The gallery also welcomes exhibition applications from artists, curators and community groups.
Maroondah City Council is the custodian of a diverse art collection of more than 400 works that continues to expand through acquisition, donation and the R & M McGivern Prize. Represented artists include Vicki Couzens, Martin King, Sidney Nolan, Jill Orr, Lin Onus, Gabriella Possum Nungurrayi, Teho Ropeyarn and James Alfred Turner. The smaller of the two spaces at Maroondah Federation Estate Gallery exhibits a changing roster of works from the collection.
