The Ipswich Art Gallery presents a dynamic program of visual arts exhibitions spanning contemporary Queensland artists to national touring exhibitions, along with social history and folk art displays and a suite of accessible interactive exhibitions aimed at engaging children, families and non-traditional audiences. Complementary events, art-making workshops, creative activities and engaging performances round out the gallery’s broad program.
Beginning in 1951 with the acquisition of 14 paintings, the Ipswich Art Gallery Collection has grown to more than 2,000 artworks and items of historical significance. The Collection presently ranges from humble ephemera to important works by Australia’s most celebrated artists, reflecting in its breadth the rich cultural and social heritage of the region.
With annual attendances upwards of 100,000 visitors, the Ipswich Art Gallery one of the most visited regional galleries in Australia.
