SOUTH EAST CENTRE FOR CONTEMPORARY ART (SECCA BEGA)
A: Zingel Pl, Bega NSW
P: +61 2 6499 2222
E: gallery@begavalley.nsw.gov.au
Since 1988, when the original gallery opened in the heart of Bega’s public precinct, the facility has represented the cultural ambition of local audiences and practitioners. Coalescing fresh energy, a new gallery space, a global brand, a celebration of place together with an outward facing focus, the Bega Valley Regional Gallery is now the South East Centre for Contemporary Art (SECCA). SECCA acknowledges the physical space occupied by the facility, the cultural heritage from First Nation ancestors, colonial settlers and contemporary society.
Its artistic program delivers an intellectual and artistic exchange of ideas, acknowledging divergent political, social and moral belief systems of artists and audiences from Australia and the Asia Pacific. SECCA is a facility that transgresses and perforates existing boundaries, to gather and evolve its position in the corner of an ancient continent, on the edge of the Pacific and at the far south east of South East Asia. As a destination, SECCA is a safe and open platform where art can flourish and an ever widening national audience can participate, connect, be inspired and experience contemporary visual culture.
SECCA opens in Summer 2022/2023.
