THIS IS NO FANTASY is has announced the representation of Olivia Chin, a dynamic multidisciplinary artist based in Naarm/Melbourne. Chin’s practice blends sculpture, textiles and oil painting to explore the intersections of time, memory and the natural world. Rooted in her diasporic heritage, which spans both Asian and French ancestries, Chin’s work investigates how bodies, materials and memories migrate and transform across landscapes and cultures.

Her artistic approach reflects a deep reverence for nature, as she critically examines ecological processes as frameworks for understanding human experience and cultural exchange. Through vibrant, layered compositions, Chin invites viewers to reconsider their place in the world and the ongoing transformations of the natural environment.

Chin graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Sculpture) from the National Art School in 2015, and in 2024, she was a finalist in several prestigious awards, the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize, the Mosman Art Prize, Fisher’s Ghost Art Award, and the Macquarie Group Emerging Artist Prize. Her solo exhibition Body Field is currently showing at Incinerator Gallery in Melbourne.
