One of Australia’s most significant and longest-running Aboriginal art events, Desert Mob, returns to Mparntwe / Alice Springs from 11 September to 26 October 2025 for its 34th annual celebration of desert art, culture and community.
Held at the Araluen Cultural Precinct and presented by Desart, the peak body for Central Australian Aboriginal Art Centres, Desert Mob will bring together hundreds of artists from over 30 remote art centres across the Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia.
An incredible celebration of ‘Culture First’ principles, the event features a broad program including the acclaimed Desert Mob Exhibition featuring emerging and established artists; Artist Talks, a day of presentations and performances about culture, community and Country; the buzzy Desert Mob Marketplace, where you can acquire works directly from the artists; Desert Mob After Dark, an evening of food, art, music and curator talks; plus many more workshops, demonstrations and opening celebrations.
“For more than 30 years, Desert Mob has celebrated the immense contribution of Aboriginal artists and their art centres to this land of many nations now known as Australia,” says Desart CEO Philip Watkins. “Our far-reaching reputation has seen our culture enthusiastically received into some of the most significant collections, galleries and museums around the world.”
The full lineup of events and participating art centres will be announced in early July.
