Using sculptural materials, photography and written text, Beth Maslen‘s work engages paradoxical gestures to reorder visual and associative connections and compose poetic alternatives to dominant forms of knowledge production. This exhibition comprises new sculptural and photographic work produced between Melbourne and New York over the past year. Maternal Figures explores material repetition as a means of maternal transference.
Maslen is a recipient of the Ian Potter Cultural Trust in 2024 and is currently undertaking an MFA in Sculpture at the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts, Bard College, New York.
