“The Chromazoic is the era of colour and of vision – of high-fidelity perception. It’s when a bee observes an ultraviolet flower pattern. It’s a kid watching yellow fireballs bloom on TV from a mortar attack in a far-off land. It’s when a moray eel sees through the chromatophore camouflage of an octopus. It’s the kaleidoscope in your head when you press on your eyeballs.” ~ Brendan Kelly
The new series of paintings by Brendan Kelly titled The Chromazoic explores themes of colour and vision. Kelly has created images that skew your perspective. A familiar face is viewed through a kaleidoscope. The fragmented features are pieced together by a distortion of colour.
Opening event: Thursday 20 February, 6-8pm
