Traditional crafts are vanishing in today’s industrialised world, yet Cyrus Tang’s project recontextualises these practices within contemporary art, exploring the dialogue between absence and presence.
Inspired by Tang’s childhood memories of hand-knitted sweaters – once symbols of modesty now turned fashion statements, and by the Amazigh people’s dedication to handmade crafts in Morocco – this project intends to highlight the enduring relevance of these practices in modern society.
