Laree Payne Gallery presents MADE FOR THE HOME, a solo exhibition by Daegan Wells which follows Wells’ inclusion in several group exhibitions with the Gallery over the past three years.
Living and working in rural southland (Ōraka/Colac Bay) or ‘at the bottom of the world’ as Lucinda Bennett once described it, Wells works almost exclusively with materials sourced just beyond the threshold of his house. MADE FOR THE HOME presents a series of works constructed from hand-processed wool and muka, all of which have been hand-woven on one of two looms found in Wells’ home-based studio. Revealing an inextricable connection between artist, materials and place, Wells has created works of this place (Aoteaora) to be lived with and upon.
Opening Event:Thursday 21 March, 5 – 7pm.
