Fox Galleries presents Because, a new solo exhibition by Melbourne artist Esther Erlich. Known for her striking portraiture, Erlich merges raw expression with ethereal abstraction, creating hauntingly beautiful figures that captivate the viewer. Her evocative use of colour, light and texture, combined with intricate detail, brings her subjects to life, offering a visceral exploration of human emotion and connection.

With over 51 solo and 72 group exhibitions to her name, Erlich has earned accolades such as the Doug Moran Portrait Prize (1998) and the Archibald Prize People’s Choice Award (2000). Her work is featured in prestigious collections, including the National Portrait Gallery and National Library of Canberra.
