84 year old Gareth Sansom juxtaposes earlier paintings on linen with more recent works on plywood in his first major one-person exhibition in Adelaide at GAGPROJECTS.
Sansom, who has exhibited regularly in Australia since 1959, and whose major retrospective in 2017 at the National Gallery of Victoria explored his various themes and directions in a vast display of paintings, works on paper, photographs, and installations. He continues to test the boundaries of what art can be with relentless vigour, while resisting any attempts at classification and identification. His art often defies logic, understanding and interpretation. In his 85th year he refuses to mellow.
Opening Event: Friday 1 March, 6 – 8pm.
