Australian Galleries, Melbourne presents two concurrent exhibitions celebrating the life and legacy of George Baldessin. George Baldessin presents a highly anticipated solo exhibition featuring a collection of Baldessin’s iconic prints, as well as a significant selection of works that have never been exhibited before, including drawings, paintings and sculpture.
Across the road in the Australian Galleries Stock Rooms is a group exhibition, Baldessin Studio, presenting works created at the Baldessin Studio by 29 contemporary artists, both established and emerging, celebrating Baldessin’s continued legacy of cultivating creative experiences.
The 29 artists comprise Rick Amor, Benjamin Armstrong, Rosalind Atkins, Susan Baran, Katie Breckon, Andrew Browne, August Carpenter, Angela Coombs Matthews, Zo Damage, Lana de Jager, Kasia Fabijanska, Dianne Fogwell, Belinda Fox, Silvi Glattauer, Brent Harris, Kate Hudson, Kyoko Imazu, Chris Ingham, Christine Johnson, Martin King, Barbie Kjar, Judith Martinez Estrada, Simon Normand, Monty Osewald, Jenny Robinson, Heather Shimmen, Sophia Szilagyi, Carmel Wallace, and Kate Zizys.
Tess Edwards Baldessin will speak at the exhibition at 1.30pm on Saturday 5 November, followed by a conversation between Tess Edwards Baldessin and Silvi Glattauer, ‘Legacy of the Baldessin Studio’ at 2pm.
