Birthplace, landscape, Dreaming, survival knowledge and wisdom are infused in the artworks of Gordon Barney and Lorraine Daylight.
Barney was born and raised on Alice Downs Station and is one of the custodians, protectors, and storytellers of that land.
Through his work, Barney shares an important story of one of the most horrific and inhumane massacres to have taken place on country. He paints the commemorate, pay respects and ensure it is never forgotten, but most of all to heal and acknowledge the strength, courage, and resilience of his people.
Daylight was taught to paint on Gija Country by her father Gordon and carries on a rich and storied tradition of creating important works on Gija Country.
