Graham Blondel’s paintings are abstract expressions of his inner thoughts in response to these difficult times of pandemics, lockdowns, conflict and uncertainty. However, through his passion for colour and pattern, he hopes to project an optimism that conveys a zest for life and wonder.
Several symbolic motifs dominate his work, such as dogs, rabbits, houses and portraits, both in profile and face on. They often overlay each other, making interesting probabilities and possibilities for the viewer. Improvised patterns using stencils create complex levels of meaning in his work.
