A Fragile Beauty celebrates the strange and vulnerable existence of being in a human body – an experience that is distinctly individual, yet also part of a shared corporeal reality. Artworks, sensory interventions and performances traversing fine art, floristry, dance and naturopathy inhabit the Homestead’s intimate homely spaces once occupied by a horse breeder’s family and later by psychiatric patients. A Fragile Beauty pays homage to fragile bodies past and present, giving voice to experiences and explorations of embodiment and disembodiment. The exhibition offers artists and visitors a space to reclaim bodily agency by embracing softer states of the human experience that don’t always feel safe to express.
Artists in this group exhibition include Catherine Bell, Mia Boe, Caitlin Dear, Hannah Gartside and Pilar Mata Dupont. With sensory interventions and performances by Dhana Merritt, Ebony Muller and Kit Scott.
Opening Event: Saturday 3 December, 2-4pm.
