PIERMARQ* presents Echoed Vistas, a group show featuring international artists Amélie Bertrand, Deborah Brown, Dana James, Laure Mary, and Martine Poppe to explore prisms of femininity distinct from representational traditions. Devoid of human subjects, Echoed Vistas investigates notions of identity through objects, places and environments that express visual memories, familiar experiences and interconnected existence.
Capturing the spaces between the interior and the exterior, the public and the private, and the banal and the unexpected, the works intertwine narratives of strength and vulnerability, creating an interplay between tenderness and an imminent threat.
Examining our modern era of hyper-virtualisation and consumerism, questions of sustainability, access and loneliness arise through uncanny tropes, pictorial flatness, pixelation, and mark-making that references the interactions between our daily lives and the digital. Whilst each artist’s practice varies, the works in Echoed Vistas negotiates the boundaries between abstraction and representation, and the real and imagined.
Opening Event: Thursday 6 June, 6 – 8pm.
