Fashion Artists is a dynamic group exhibition featuring Australia’s finest artists and designers working within the intersection of art and fashion, coinciding with the Melbourne Fashion Festival, and curated by leading fashion curator and writer, Paola Di Trocchio.
Fashion Artists explores artists working at the cross-section of fashion and the body and explores the potential of the body to become a site for artistic ideas. Sculpting textiles, using fabric as a canvas, projecting painterly ideas or debating issues within the fashion world, these artists use the characteristics of fashion within their artistry to reflect ideas relating to beauty, the macabre, the comical or identity. Fashion Artists invites viewers to explore the work of artists and designers at the forefront of contemporary Australian fashion and art practice.
Featuring: Atong Atem, Scotty So, Jenna Lee, Kate Rohde, Michael Zavros, Phong Chi Lai, Louise Meuwissen, Collagism and Justin Ridler as well as works by Australian designers Romance was Born, Akira Isogawa, Amy Cottrell, Matea Gluščević, Nicol and Ford, Strateas Carlucci, Yanggurdi, Yarrenyty Arltere Artists and Youkhana Isogawa to name a few.
