Cultural Conversations is an Indian Ocean Craft Triennial IOTA24 event which features recent works of Brian Robinson, Lorraine Connelly-Northey, Tyrown Waigana, Waringarri Aboriginal Arts.

Cultural Conversations reflects upon aspects of cultural communication presented within the intimacy of a gallery exhibition space which are highlighted by the interactions of artwork created by artists of different language groups and backgrounds.

The stylistic diversity produced by the invited artists encourages exploration of the perpetual cultural presence of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples including how this has been both preserved and yet morphed over time. Subtle cues within the works, supported by the artists’ conversations and statements, create a language developing sensitive connectivity towards empathetic understanding of the resilience and survival of these diverse cultures.
