Alcaston Gallery presents Pitupi Women: Now, an exhibition showcasing the powerful practices of female Pintupi artists from the renowned Papunya Tula Artists, including Clara Napurrula, Brenda Napaltjarri, Lorna Brown Napanangka, Mary Brown Napangati and Kim West Napurrula.
This exhibition is a powerful representation of the Papunya Tula Artists women’s movement, which has made an indelible mark on Australian contemporary art and its flourishing from the 1980s. Over the past three decades, this movement has cultivated a rich diversity of voices and artistic expressions.
Pintupi Women: Now features both emerging and established artists across several generations, celebrating the influential legacies of prominent families within the Pintupi art community while honouring the distinct, individual practices of each artist. Through their diverse artistic expressions, these sophisticated painters not only embody the legacy of the Pintupi women but also signify the powerful future of Western Desert art.
Exhibition Launch + Meet the Artist Event: Saturday 24 May, 11am – 3pm
