RAW24 is part of an annual open call for young people, showcasing the best original artworks being produced by young people of the Murray region. This year’s exhibition features 12 artists, and highlights the unique perspectives and experiences of the local young people.
Selected artists have submitted their work independently with a range of mediums including painting, drawing, photography, digital media, sculpture and installation. The 2024 exhibition presents timely themes around self-identity, mental health and body positivity, while others draw inspiration from history and mythology.
An important aspect of the opportunity for participating young artists was a series of professional development tutorials by MAMA curatorial staff that covered aspects of concept development, artwork preparation, and exhibition installation as well as feedback for future projects.
Exhibited artists include Alexander Leeworthy, Opal-Jade/Benny, Brigitte Ford, Ella Spokes, Emily Dove, Jack Walter, Jairus Smerdone, Logan Warnaar, Madeleine Steer, Opal Davidson, Sophie Swinton and Toby Robinson.
