D’Lan Contemporary presents a group exhibition with highlights including Yingapungapu at Djarrakpi, circa 1962, by Yolŋu artist Narritjin Maymuru, and the spectacular Rain Dreaming with Ceremonial Man by Johnny Warangula.
Another major highlight is Alec Mingelmanganu’s Wanjinam, circa 1980 – one of the last large-scale canvases by this important artist to remain in private hands today – and the rare, oval-shaped Emu, 1990 by Emily Kam Kngwarray – one of only a few early paintings which represent the artist’s transmission from women’s ceremonial obligation and body painting, to painting on board and canvas.
The contemporary section also features works of exceptional quality by Gordon Bennett, John Mawurndjul, Makinti Napanangka, Ronnie Tjampitjinpa, Willy Tjungurrayi and Tommy Mitchell.
Opening Event: Thursday 30 May, 6 -8pm.
