Ian Strange is a Western Australian born photo-media artist who has forged an international career through a series of site-specific interventions and community-based projects, focusing on the home.
Suburban Interventions is the first large-scale survey of the artist’s photo media and film work and is arranged sequentially in six titled chapters – Suburban, Final Act, Island, Target, Zloty and Shadow – each containing a distinctive body of work responding to a specific place and time.
Suburban Interventions documents a series of site-specific projects around the world that interrogates the idea of the home as a highly charged symbol, acting to “place the psychological interior of the home onto its exterior”.
