Merge by Brisbane-based artist Isobel Kingswell imagines the natural environment as an overlapping, intersecting and forceful phenomenon in her landscape paintings.
These semi-abstract oil paintings include the viewer in all-encompassing scenes through the exaggerated use of colour and pattern. They are a gentle reminder that we are not separate but vitally connected to the natural world. Rather than being anchored to specific geographical locations, Merge examines the structure and complexity of the natural world and our interdependent relationship with it and one another.
Kingswell is an emerging artist living and working in Meanjin (Brisbane). Influenced by her university studies in Architecture, her painting practice considers connections between people and the places they occupy or share.
Opening night: Saturday 30 November, 6-8pm
