Jacky Redgate is regarded as one of Australia’s leading contemporary artists, with a practice extending four decades. Born in London in 1955, Redgate emigrated to Australia in 1967 where her career evolved through the divergent contexts of late modernism, 1970s feminism, minimalism, and conceptual art.
Hypnagogia with Mirrors refers to a new photographic series made for the exhibition using her sculptures Unfolding Solids as props in Mylar mirrors. Redgate will also use the architecture and symmetry of the gallery space, to stage works using the metaphor of the mirror from her oeuvre.
Opening Event: Saturday 16 September, from 2pm.
