The exhibition Midway Arcades consists of two levels of recent work by Jane O’Neill, a mid-career artist with an interest in hydro-feminism as a means for understanding the fluid relationship between the body and the broader world.
A driving interest in O’Neill’s work is fluidity – the way that water is contained by humans in settings such as bathrooms and swimming pools; our relationship to water in an increasingly hostile climate of ecological disaster; the consideration of water in the things we consume; and the fluidity in interpersonal relations between people.
Midway Arcade is presented as part of the PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival’s independent program.
