Sullivan+Strumpf presents Julia Gutman‘s second solo exhibition with the gallery and her first in Melbourne, Everyone You Are Looking at is Also You. In this new body of work, Gutman grapples with the distance between the self and other.

Made almost entirely from clothes donated to the artist by her community, the works in this exhibition are stitched together to recall the surface of painting and rich with art historical references.

Here, Gutman makes a self-conscious attempt to see the world outside of her own eyes, all the while knowing such a task is impossible.
