Sparks Might Fly is a woven exploration using natural and man-made materials to create sculptural forms by Northern Rivers artist Justin Telfer.

Elements of weaving are employed using random and traditional styles, and satisfy the artists interest in the tactile. Telfer skilfully engages traditional techniques using non-traditional materials, allowing items such as disused electrical wiring, digital cables and plastic bags to guide the creations – one action leading to another, letting the work evolve.

These creations prompt us to reflect on the lifespan of materials, biodegradability, and the traces we leave behind and consider the delicate balance between progress and sustainability.
