Lachlan Stonehouse, an artist working across painting, drawing, and collage, presents his exhibition Grid Variations, opening at Five Walls Gallery.
In this collection, he employs oil on canvas adhered to wood to craft a woven canvas construction evoking a lattice effect. Through deliberate incisions, he selectively removes squares within the material grid. This interplay of materiality results in an irregular repetition, where the juxtaposition of similarities and differences guides Stonehouse’s methodical approach to his work. By exploring themes of recurrence, pattern making, and the controlled alteration of surface, he invites viewers to contemplate paradoxical transformations within his artistic process.
Opening Event: Friday 5 April, 6 – 9pm.
