Wagner Contemporary presents new works by Queensland-based emerging artist Llewellyn Skye. Working predominantly in abstraction with oil paint but also using acrylic, oil stick and sprays, Skye’s work reflects a curiosity with paint; it’s tactile nature and expressive form, along with the cohesive range of colours and textures.
The artist’s large-scale paintings are intuitive and gestural, exuding energy, vibrance and a cool aesthetic. Drawing inspiration form nature and, in particular, from flowers and seasonal landscapes, her work explores paradoxes that arouse emotions: pleasure, infatuation, joy, and love.
Opening reception with the artist: Saturday 16 November, 3-5pm
