For this exhibition, Lucas Grogan takes the humble ‘cabinet’ as a starting point. The body of work recalls the Cabinet of Curiosities of the 16th Century, which consisted of small collections of extraordinary objects and, like today’s museums, attempted to categorise and tell stories about the wonders and oddities of the world.
Grogan brings this concept into the contemporary with delightful and at times scurrilous humour, placing new appreciation upon seemingly mundane items.
