Alcaston Gallery presents new paintings on bark and timber plywood board by highly esteemed Yolŋu senior artist and Madarrpa elder, Noŋgirrŋa Marawili.
A revered and hugely important contemporary Australian and First Nations artist of our time, Marawili’s art is at the zenith for contemporary collectors; art that is so powerful in its interpretation of her inherited cultural knowledge of the land, sea, and daily life of her homelands in north-eastern Arnhem Land.
Collected by major public galleries and private collectors in Australia and overseas including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, as well as a significant recent acquisition in 2022, when Marawili’s work was acquired by the Tate Modern, London and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, as part of the International Joint Acquisition Program for contemporary Australian art.
Opening Event: Thursday 3 August, 4.30 – 6.30pm.
