This new series of large scale oil paintings continues Ochre Lawson’s sensitive and close observation of trees in nature and focuses in on the artist’s relationship to Alpine Country. The paintings are a direct outcome of a residency at Falls Creek in Victoria. Lawson is able to replicate the dynamic energy found in the gnarly entanglement of limb and branch, she is able to translate the internal movement of energy within the trees through paint. These works are testament to the affinity Lawson has with the wild and the romance felt for these beautiful old trees. Paint used to capture the soul and life force of the trees and their surroundings.
