PJ Hickman Ad Infinitum, 2025, Arcylic on canvas, 121 x 121 cm
ADD TO CART is an ironic commentary on how the internet – especially Instagram and online shopping – has shaped aesthetics and commodified art and design. In this exhibition, PJ Hickman furthers his reductive visual and conceptual approach, blending art historical references with wit and contemporary critique.
The work responds to a digital culture where galleries increasingly operate online and art is marketed like any other product—just “add to cart.” Hickman mimics delivery labels and digital imagery, translating them into meticulously crafted painted objects. Displayed on walls, trestle tables, and plinths, these works simulate the online shopping experience while reclaiming physical space.
By presenting digital replicas as tangible forms, the exhibition invites deeper reflection and slow observation—offering a counterpoint to the rapid, surface-level engagement typical of online viewing.
