Highly regarded Canberra artist Robert Boynes is a consummate master of both technique and observation. His work focuses on the anonymity of much contemporary social interaction. This exhibition is an extension of themes that have preoccupied the artist over the years. The issues present in his works are always abstract in their origin – disquiet, fear, love. Boynes’s paintings remind us that modernity is an amalgam of the impersonal and the intimate.
