Seth Birchall’s work sits in the space between memory and imagined place. His conceptual explorations spawning fictitious landscapes reflective of the artist’s innate connection with nature. Powerful weather systems, lightning strikes, the waxing and waning of the moon; Birchall translates nature’s displaced energy into colour and mark making. His latest body of work, The Moon Under Water, was born of conversations he holds with himself in silence; taking an idea, a jumping-off point that is consciously forgotten, granting full creative freedom.
