The latest exhibition by the artists of Sixfold Project, Meanwhile, celebrates the power of the collective creative experience.
Each artist has responded to time and place, drawing upon their own personal and philosophical frameworks to simultaneously create new multi-disciplinary works for this exhibition.
Based in Cairns, Melbourne and Aotearoa, the artists of Sixfold work in studio isolation and the regular online exchanges of the collective become integral to the processes and material experiments of each individual.
“The artists describe this process as an ‘energising’ opportunity to ‘reject, reshape, reaffirm and re-navigate their works through a shared creative process’. In each other, these individuals have recognised a similar work ethic, and a willingness to be fearless with their art-making. Supported by each other’s simultaneous efforts, they contemplate gravely their experiences and preoccupations and seek to express their evolution.” Andrea Heulin.
