Fox Galleries presents an exhibition of twenty works from the Adam Williams collection of Indigenous Art, featuring an array of Aboriginal art ranging from refined works by desert masters such as Emily Kame Kngwarreye and Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri to playful figurative works by Trevor Turbo Brown.
This exhibition presents a selection of significant, institution level artworks with many on public display for the first time in almost fifteen years. Several of these works were included in the Dreamtime exhibition at the MAN Museum, Italy in 2011. Adam Williams was one of the key contributors to the show, which at the time was the largest exhibition of Indigenous Australian art held at an international museum.
Williams grew up in regional Northern Victoria. He was first introduced to Aboriginal art through a close friend with a collection of paintings by artists from the Ngukurr region. This was the spark that ignited Williams’ fascination for and support of Indigenous Australian art.
Exhibited artists include Emily Kame Kngwarreye, Ginger Riley Munduwalawala, Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri, George ‘Hairbrush’ Tjungurrayi, Frederick William ‘Billy’ Doolan Jnr, Trevor Turbo Brown, Dr Pantjiti Mary McLean, Craig Allan Charles, John Cummins, Luke Cummins, Lionel Possum Tjungurrayi, Maxie Tjampitjinpa, Gabriella Possum Nungurrayi, Eunice Napangardi, and Willy Ryder Tjungurrayi.
Opening Event: Thursday 4 July.
