Charcoal is imbued with layers of deep cultural significance, from the symbolic and spiritual to the historical and contemporary. The artists at Yarrabah Arts & Cultural Precinct explore this theme through the creation of a variety of artworks that reveal layers of meaning to expose how charcoal is central to cultural and artistic expression.
Court House Gallery will be transformed to emphasise and celebrate the diverse representation of charcoal in stories and rituals while showcasing the incredible talents of the artists in a variety of mediums. This exhibition is curated by Peggy Kasabad Lane.
