Bundoora Homestead Art Centre is the public art gallery for the City of Darebin.
The gallery positions artists as central to the conversation about Australian life and culture. Housed within a heritage listed Queen Anne-style mansion, the gallery recognises the complex history of their site through the exhibitions, public education and collection programs they present.
Set amidst heritage gardens, The Kitchen offers a delicious range of small treats for afternoon tea, and the gallery shop offers a selection of limited-edition artist wares and Bundoora Homestead Art Centre merchandise.
Bundoora Homestead Art Centre provides disability access including a lift, on-site car parking and is situated close to public transport.
The Darebin Art Prize and A1 Darebin Art Salon community prize are held at Bundoora Homestead Art Centre on alternating years.
The A1 Darebin Art Salon is a celebration of art, creativity and expression within the community. Artists who live, work or study in the City of Darebin are invited to present a new artwork in this much-loved biennial exhibition. 2020 was the third iteration of the community prize, held entirely online.
The Darebin Art Prize is a biennial multi-medium award for excellence in contemporary visual art. Artists from across Australia are represented in this major exhibition which includes a $10,000 acquisitive prize and $1,000 People’s Choice Award.
