MARS Gallery presents At First I Was Afraid, by artist Emil Cañita featuring images and video works showcasing their experiences as a trans, Genderfluid sex worker.

Cañita (he/she/they) is a Trans, Genderfluid Filipino-Australian artist and storyteller currently living in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. Having a background in Social Sciences and a career working in the HIV/Sexual health & LGBTIQ+ sector, Emil is guided by their lived experience and use their body and social media account as a source and medium to explore different themes surrounding human sexuality and queer relations.
