Presented by Honey Ant Gallery, this is an exhibition of paintings by artists from remote desert communities. Australia’s desert centre can appear an inhospitable environment. The quality of light can be glaring and harsh, and the terrain rugged and unforgiving. But it’s from this seemingly unpromising place that an explosion of colour and creativity has been springing for decades.
The colour of sunrise, sunset, sandhills, low lying scrub, the changing seasons, flora and fauna—all are constant sources of inspiration for Indigenous artists painting their ancestral stories on to canvas.
Artists include: Nancy Nungurrayi, Kudditji Kngwarreye, Polly Kngale, Walala Tjapaltjarri, Tjawina Porter Nampitjinpa and many others, as well as promising rising talent.
