J Davies’ PHOTO 2024 exhibition, In Case We Don’t Live Forever is curated from the artist’s archive of photographs from 2018-2023.

The concept was born from the artist’s concern that they may not live to see their 30th birthday. Integrating this idea, J realised this concern came from a lack of exposure to positive representation of older queer experiences. From the vantage point of their youth, J had not seen many representations of alternative family constellations that centred queer communities and experiences. This has inspired J’s desire to celebrate queer bodies and trans joy in their work.
