Gallery Sally Dan-Cuthbert presents Asymptote, Olive Gill-Hille’s second exhibition with the gallery.
Gill-Hille creates dramatic sculpture from found species. The sensuality of ebonised wood is transformed, through the play of curves, into imaginary bodies that look both natural and abstract to form tactile pieces that move together ‘just before touch’. The presentation includes sculpture, wall panels and unique collectable design pieces.
Gill-Hille is an emerging artist from Western Australia who is quickly becoming known for her work in native timbers. She was a finalist in this year’s Ramsay Art Prize, Art Gallery of South Australia, with Nocturne, an ebonised console table. She has exhibited with Gallery Sally Dan-Cuthbert during Sydney Contemporary, Melbourne Design Fair and in New Australian Design, Powerhouse Museum.
Asymptote is a feature of Powerhouse Museum, Sydney Design Week 2023, curated by Keinton Butler.
