When It’s With You follows an ongoing investigation into Zoe Grey’s relationship with her home, Marrawah, on Peeraper country, a rugged and remote environment on the Western edge of Lutruwita/Tasmania.

Grey grew up there and came to intimately know the unique landscape, ocean, isolation and weather. Now, based on the other end of the island, in Nipaluna/Hobart, she paints to maintain a connection to that place, to nurture a relationship and to carry it with her, even when she is not physically there.

This body of work is an honest exploration of the complexities of that connection and the complicated feelings of ‘home’. The paintings are an act of commitment, to a relationship with place.
