McClelland is Australia’s premier sculpture park and gallery, celebrating art with nature in a unique 16-hectare natural bushland setting.
Situated on Bunurong Country just 45 minutes’ drive from Melbourne, at the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula, McClelland features more than 100 large-scale sculptures by Australia’s leading modernist and contemporary sculptors.
The gallery holds a diverse permanent collection of more than 2,600 art works. McClelland’s exhibition program focuses on the development of modern sculpture and contemporary spatial practice, and encourages artists to address challenging environmental, social and cultural issues current in an Australian and global context.
McClelland also manages a number of major public art commission initiatives, such as the biennial Southern Way McClelland Commissions. From its inception McClelland was developed with a vision to be a place of inclusion for all to enjoy. McClelland is a not-for-profit organisation and relies on donations and philanthropic support to sustain its operations. Visitor support and generosity enables McClelland to continue to champion the experience of art in the natural environment, present contemporary exhibitions, preserve its collection, maintain the extensive grounds and continue its education and public programs. Find out how to support McClelland, through donations, philanthropic sponsorship, and its Adopt-A-Sculpture conservation program via its website.
AWARDS
McClelland holds awards in the mediums of sculpture, drawing, watercolour and ceramics, with funds generously provided by the Elisabeth Murdoch Sculpture Fund, the Fornari Bequest, artist Rick Amor, Mary and Lou Senini, and private donors. The Southern Way McClelland Commissions are a unique and award-winning commitment to public art funded by Southern Way and managed by McClelland, forming an ongoing program of new sculptures every two years on Peninsula Link, resulting in 14 commissions over the 25-year period to 2037. After four years on the freeway site, the works join McClelland’s permanent collection, and submissions are open to all artists.
