The City of Townsville Art Collection (COTAC) holds 4,000 artworks and offers compelling narratives and ideas of life in the tropics, revealing the individuals and forces that have shaped Townsville’s history. The multicultural collection focuses on art from North Queensland and the Pacific region, touching on Indigenous heritage, colonial settlement, the Townsville port and World War II, as well as contemporary topics.
The City of Townsville Art in Public spaces Collection holds 256 artworks. Townsville City Council’s street art collection extends art experiences outside Council’s buildings to activate community spaces, grow audiences and foster collaborative relationships. Townsville’s city streets, laneways, and alleyways showcase a range of vibrant and innovative street art murals by local and internationally renowned artists such as ROA, HAHA, Claire Foxton, Nicky Bidju Pryor, Kennie Deaner and The RUN Collective.
