GAPUWIYAK Culture and Arts is a remote Art Centre in east Arnhemland. It is owned by Yolŋu members, and has a Yolŋu Board. The Centre is a thriving community hub and supports more than 100 artists from Gapuwiyak and surrounding homelands. It assist artists to collect and prepare materials, make high quality art, explore ideas, develop knowledge and skills, exhibit, market and sell their work. It also runs tourism and cultural programs. The Culture and Art Centre is a supportive meeting place for visitors, artists and community members to relax and learn about Yolŋu culture and art. Located 24km off the Central Arnhem Road on the shore of Lake Evella, Gapuwiyak has all-year access by road and air. It is a little over an hour’s flight or 870km by road from Darwin, and 220km by road from Nhulunbuy.
